Drive-by Ramblings

One of the toughest things about committing to NaBloPoMo is trying to come up with something to write about for thirty days straight. It's especially hard when you are overwhelmed with the mundanity of life and just trying to get through to the next clearing in the forest. For me that will be, I guess, …

Food

I'm trying to keep my body from going from insulin resistance into full-blown Type 2 diabetes by watching my diet carefully and trying to exercise. My doctor recommended a low-carbohydrate diet, and the more I watch myself and try to maintain it, the more I see the connection between what I eat and how I …

Morals vs. Ethics

What's the difference? Well, we could look in the dictionary and see what it says. Dictionary.com gives us a nice little starting point:   Morals, ethics  refer to rules and standards of conduct and practice. Morals refers to generally accepted customs of conduct and right living in a society, and to the individual's practice in relation to these: the morals of our civilization. Ethics now implies high standards of honest and honorable dealing, and of methods used, esp. in the professions or in business: ethics of the medical profession.  I've always made an internal distinction between the two, but every time someone asks me to explain it I'm at a loss. Election Day Blues

Of course I went and voted in the general election today. I try to always vote, even in the special referendums but definitely in the primary and general elections and runoffs. It's rather painful to do so at times, though. I am so disgusted with the self-serving, double-talking scumbags that run for most political offices …

Recent Doings

I know it’s been quiet here, mostly because I’ve been focusing a lot of my spare-time attention on the merger of my Art of the Firebird business with Andrea’s Four Tails Lampwork. After almost three years of doing shows together and managing money together without killing each other, or even a major snit, we decided …

Would you rather be a famous musician or a famous actor?

Neither! I don’t want to be a famous ANYTHING. I prefer to fly under the radar, thank you very much! What do you want to ask me?

What’s your favorite city?

Asheville, NC. Big enough without being too big, hip without being too outre, and in a beautiful setting. What do you want to ask me?

What’s the furthest you’ve ever traveled?

Seattle, I guess. I’ve been to Toronto and Ottawa, Canada, but those trips were from either Cleveland or Atlanta so not that far; I’m sure the stops on my two Caribbean cruises weren’t as far away as the Pacific Northwest. What do you want to ask me?

Who is the most infuential person you have met in your life?

Probably my maternal grandmother, for so many reasons I can’t possibly list them all. What do you want to ask me?
