43 Things on “minimize existing clutter and excess possessions”

tagged , , and

I was looking around the house this morning before I went to work and just went “UGH!” Clutter, clutter everywhere! My sister’s garage sale is planned for sometime next month and she says we can do it with her. The Good Mews yard sale is in late April or May; anything we don’t sell at my sister’s can be donated to my favorite cause. DH is bringing home boxes—time to get labels, put prices on, and start filling them up.

43 Things — On “learn PHP and MySQL”

tagged , , , and

Progress so far: bought two books online—the Visual Quickpro guide came today, Learning PHP 5 is on the way. Went to http://www.php.net/ and downloaded some tutorial materials. Downloaded the PHPList package and tried to install it at work, got server errors, emailed Hunter for help. I looked at some of the PHPList code and it doesn’t make sense yet. But it will.

43 Things — On “manage my finances better”

I did get the latest version of Quicken and installed it, archiving my old data files and starting fresh on 1/1. Last night I got the checking/savings records up to date and paid a bunch of sadly overdue bills. It’s a small start.I used to be pretty successful with sitting down at the computer every Sunday night, paying bills and updating records for the week. I plan to get back to that. The other thing I need to do is get Quicken connected with the investment accounts so I can follow the 401(k) progress.

43 Things — On “keep up with my journal”

tagged , and

Okay, the big stumbling block here is not always having it with me. So this morning before leaving for work I cleaned out the messenger bag I use as a briefcase, pulling out some things I really don’t need to carry and consolidating the rest. That made room in the bag for the SketchFolio in which I carry the journal. Now I’ll at least have it at home and at work with me—for other occasions I’ll just have to pull it out of the bag and bring it along.

On being a glass artist

tagged , , , and

I want to make beads that other people will love and want to buy from me. I’m not sure yet exactly what style of beads I will be making, but it will not be just today’s hot style of beads. I’m going to make beads that I love, and then let other people that love them have them.As of now I have been flameworking for almost eight months, though for the first three I did very little since I didn’t have my studio and equipment set up. I can make basic round beads somewhat consistently; I can make barrels and olives that look more or less like they are supposed to, though they still need control. I don’t have much consistent control over pressing yet. As for decoration, I can sort of handle frit, but I need PPP with stringers and dots.
